Skin may be a thin but an extremely effective barrier against billions of health threats called pathogens that are found in the world. They get into the skin and make us sick. That is why we should take care of our skin on daily basis to protect it so that there is no way pathogens can harm your health.
Environmental pollution, UV rays of the sun, extreme weather temperature, sweating, wind as well as the wrong kind of chemicals and skin products can harm the outer layer of the skin. But you have control and ability to maintain a healthy skin.
Following are some basic tips that have great results for the health of your skin:
Protect from Sun Exposure:
Exposure to sun for 10-15 minutes is alright but apart from that you need to use SPF 30 sunscreen on your face. This is important even when the days are not sunny as damaging UV rays can harm you through windows and clouds even. Use sunscreen, wear broad brimmed hats and cover yourself properly.
You need to properly clean your skin. There are number of harmful bacteria and dirt in the environment and water is not enough for the job. If you do not clean the oily residue in your pores, they can get clogged leading to pimples.
Avoid using soaps as most of them are alkaline that affect the delicate pH balance of the skin and cause dryness, flaking, redness and skin itching. Choose liquid cleansers and creams containing natural ingredients (fruit and vegetable oil) and mineral oil so the dirt gets dissolved.
Avoid Skin Dryness:
The epidermis of our skin has 30% water that is bound in lipids keeping it from evaporating. By using a good quality moisturizing lotion or cream, you can boost your skin’s ability to bind water. Moisturizers help in keeping the skin moisture locked in. Furthermore, you need to say hydrated. Drink plenty of water and fresh juices. Make a routine for moisturizing the face daily and before you sleep, place a towel soaked in warm water on your face for some time.
Must Remove Makeup:
The dirt from the environment is not the only pollutant harming your skin. Makeup contains chemicals and your face needs to be cleared of all it. Makeup keeps your facial pores clogged and not cleaning it could result in pimples.
